Privacy notice

Last updated 30 August 2026

This notice explains what R J Sanders & Son Ltd does with the personal information you give us when you ask for a home visit or a quote, whether through the form on this site or over the phone.

We are a small family business. We collect the least we can, we use it only to arrange and carry out your visit and any work that follows, and we do not sell it or share it for marketing.

Who we are

R J Sanders & Son Ltd is the data controller for the information described here. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 17107697.

Registered address: [TODO: registered address]

Email: [TODO: email address] · Phone: [TODO: phone number]

What we collect

When you ask us for a home visit or a quote, we collect:

  • your name
  • your phone number
  • your email address, if you give us one
  • your postcode or address, so we can find you and check we cover your area
  • what you are interested in, when suits you for a visit, and anything else you tell us in your message

If you go on to order work from us, we also keep the measurements, the products chosen, the quote and what you paid.

We do not collect any special category data, and we do not ask for or store card details on this website.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

Under UK data protection law we must have a lawful basis for using your information.

  • To answer your enquiry and arrange your visit — this is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, and it is in our legitimate interests to respond to someone who has asked us to.
  • To measure, quote, order and fit your curtains, blinds or shutters — this is necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep records of our sales and accounts — this is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, including tax and VAT.
  • To deal with a complaint, a warranty claim or a legal dispute — this is in our legitimate interests in defending our position.

We do not rely on your consent for any of this, so you do not need to give consent to get a quote. If we ever want to send you marketing that you have not asked for, we will ask for your consent first and you can withdraw it at any time.

Who we share it with

We share your information only where we have to in order to do the job:

  • our email provider and the company that hosts this website, who process the messages and form submissions on our behalf
  • the trade suppliers and manufacturers who make your order — and only the details they need to make and deliver it
  • our accountant, and HMRC, for our records and tax returns
  • anyone we are legally required to share it with

We never sell your information, and we never pass it to other companies for their own marketing.

Some of our providers store information on servers outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is covered by safeguards approved under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to an order: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Customers who place an order: 6 years after the end of the work, because we may need the records for tax, warranty and any dispute.
  • Anything we no longer have a reason to hold is deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • have it corrected if it is wrong
  • have it deleted, where we have no continuing reason to keep it
  • ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to us using it under our legitimate interests
  • ask us to send it to you, or another provider, in a portable format
  • withdraw your consent, where we have relied on consent

To use any of these rights, email us at [TODO: email address] or ring [TODO: phone number]. We will reply within one month. There is no charge, and we may ask you to confirm who you are first.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first — we would rather put it right ourselves.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set any cookies. We do not use website analytics, and there are no advertising or social media tracking pixels on this site.

If that changes — for example if we start advertising on Facebook or Instagram — we will update this notice first, and we will ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page if what we do with your information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
